Hello Dino Bikers, I’m a retired pipe fitter but have had my hands into a little bit of everything from construction, to country rock bands, and enjoy painting, drawing, making wood art. Married to a wonderful wife of 45 years and still going strong. I’ve enjoyed riding motorcycles most my life and have had mostly big cruisers and have enjoyed all my past travels, sold the cruiser and I thought I would try something different so I went to a new 2013 BMW R1200GSW. What a great bike made lots of memories and friends throughout those years. I just sold it two months ago before going through MDAnderson cancer center for the second time. The battle is still ongoing, Not how I planned retirement so things have changed. I was in agony knowing that I had nothing to ride, I just couldn’t help myself I had to look for something! I just felt naked not having a motorcycle in my garage after so many years. I’ve never even seen a DN-01 before but after reading The reviews, some good some bad I decided I need something to putt around on. I Found a nice all black 09 with a little high mileage of 26500 but excellent condition, not really sure what the life expectations are but it was well taken care of and within my budget. So here I am reading everyone’s post and learning about this crazy (new to me) bike I bought that Crazy me never looked at or tested before buying. Sometimes I go out on gut feeling and I’m here to say, it was a great choice I’m really happy with it and enjoying it a lot. It’s a great low profile bike that’s simple and fun to ride it fits this old man just fine. I hope to learn all the tips good and bad from you guys. Thanks and be safe. Welcome to the brother-/sisterhood!
Despite the DN did not sell too well in years 2008-2010 while it was produced, it seems to me some kind of "second wave" going on now, so said. I see more people discovering charms of the DN nowadays, more than 10 years after production of those is ended. It shows most obviously the DN was a lot ahead of it's time, but generally Honda's marketing people were right about whom this motorcycle was ment already in the beginning: DN is for mature biker-people, who do not need to prove anything, just enjoy!

It is really enjoyable machine to ride, have fun as much as you can!

Thank you, previous owner said he serviced the bike himself and changed fluids and oil filter before the purchase but I need to go through it l myself just for peace of mind. Maybe add a K&N filter and change all the fluids again. The side bags and Corbin seats were a plus, I did find a set of Corbin back rest for it, a person had a Corbin Harley seat on eBay with the back rests and I offered to buy just the back rests and he accepted my offer about 1/5 the cost of new ones from the Corbin website. On my good days (health wise) I plan on getting out and riding.

Hi Knob, thanks for the welcome, you are absolutely correct about the second wave. The younger generation is all about speed and the image they are looking for. Over the years as we get older and wiser we discovered the more simple things in life. The DN-01 was perfect for what I needed, I’m glad I took bravery test and bought it not knowing much about it. Here in the US there’s still many of them for sale but average price is about 5-7k and spread out all over. I do plan on enjoying the ride again. I’m happy to be part of this group. Thanks
