Fan not coming on

I have had my Dino for 16 years and never had any problems, I took it for a small run 2 weeks ago and the radiator popped a tiny hole, I have replaced the radiator, but the fan won't come on. The fuse is ok, the relay is ok, the fan works when connected direct to the battery. I have ordered a new thermostat as it didn't do anything at 84 degrees celcius in water. I am hoping this is the problem, if the fan doesn't come on, then I can only think that the black 2 pin plug for the fan has been damaged, it looks ok though. I would welcome any thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

Did the fan always come on before you discovered the tiny hole and started replacing things?
On my DN-01 it seems the fan only comes on after the bike has been idling and is beginning to overheat.
The fan works fine you said wired direct to battery ... if the coolant temperature indicator light is on, that means overheating. What if the bike is perfectly fine except the cooling system is not calling for the fan? it seems unlikely to be the 2p connector, but that is a good idea you are checking it. I'm looking at chapter 7 in the FSM but it is unclear to me when (what temp) the fan comes on, or if the fan doesnt come on (all the time) that that is a fault
